The color temperature of halogen sits at 3000K, which is a warm white with a slight yellow tint. That pairs well with wood furniture and cream walls. If your room has cool gray walls and stainless steel, the warmer light can look muddy, and a 3500K LED is the better match.
Keep the fixture height in mind. A pendant hanging 30 inches above a table works well with a single 60-watt bulb. If the fixture hangs lower, around 24 inches, drop to a 40-watt bulb to avoid glare in the eyes of people seated across from each other.
